I am Ken Jones, former Rockwall County Mayor, and I'm announcing my candidacy for Rockwall County Judge.

As your County Judge my emphasis will continue to be on badly needed road improvements. Many of our schools are located on or accessed by roads where serious accidents could occur due to the condition of the roads.

I will work with commissioner's court, county staff, city mayors, city managers, city councils, law enforcement, public and private schools, fire departments and other first responders as well as the citizens of Rockwall County.

My wife of 47 years, Glenda, and I are both native Texans, but we love all people.

I attended Paris Jr. College and East Texas State University. I also graduated from a technical institute and hold the highest lifetime license available from the Federal Communications Commission.

I helped build DFW Airport and the University of Texas at Dallas in my area of expertise which is architectural concrete.

Let me start my campaign by promising that I will not raise my salary when I am serving as your judge. I will not vote to start any new construction that is not already approved by Rockwall County voters.

With the support of the commissioner's court I will sell off commercial pad sites along I-30 to defray costs of building the new government center. And I will support a veteran's memorial at that new government center, which memorial will be funded with private donations.

My history on taxes speaks for itself. As Rockwall Mayor I worked with staff and council to provide superb services while maintaining a tax rate of 36 cents.

I am a charter director of the Rockwall County YMCA, a member of the Rockwall Noon Rotary Club and past President of the Terrell Rotary Club. I am a member of the Republican Men's Club and Glenda is a member of the Republican's Women's Club.

Glenda and I attend Lake Pointe Church were we serve as greeters. We are both members of the Rockwall Chamber of Commerce. Along with our family we own and operate two radio stations - KXEZ 92.1 FM, the radio voice of Rockwall Yellow Jackets and Heath Hawks. We also own and operate KHYI 95.3, the Texas Broadcast Station of the Year. I've been in the radio industry 50 years, 30 years as an owner.

Glenda and I have four grown children, Terri, Greg, Jonathan and Joshua, all Rockwall High School and College graduates. Our grandchildren are Hilary Hymer, Peyton Lumley, Millie Jones, Jacob Jones, Preston Jones and Finn, Anne-Claire and Ainslee Jones, triplets.
